In this eBook, we define New Product Introduction (NPI) as
the process that starts when you decide to take a product to
market—that could be any product variant, not just innovative
new products. This might include product line or geographic
extensions, ingredient changes, packaging changes, etc.
NPI (sometimes referred to as commercialization) is all about
collecting and entering the data into SAP that your supply chain
or operations team needs to make and distribute the product and
meet launch dates.
Managing critical tasks like sourcing new materials, or getting new
artwork designed is also part of the NPI process.
