Survey respondents say they are ready for the workplace revolution that comes with a business digital transformation. Nearly three-fourths (74%) of respondents said they feel prepared to attract and retain a digital workforce. The timing is certainly right; industry watchers expect to see significant changes in the workforce as 2020 approaches.
Dubbed the Gig Economy, industry watchers expect this new model of work—which embraces temporary and contract positions with short-term engagements working remotely for various companies—to flourish in the coming year. For instance, Intuit estimates that by 2020, 40% of American workers will be independent contractors. And Harvard Business Review estimates that 150 million North American workers already operate as independent contractors.
