Square manages complex and global operations that span over 20 banks with hundreds of accounts, with payments capabilities that draw enormous volumes of transactions across real time scale. However, traditional TMS infrastructure has struggled to support the increasing needs of the company as it continues to grow products and reach in the ﬁnancial technology landscape. Looking past the limitations of existing legacy solutions serving their internal data operations, Square charted a digital transformation path that looked at data centralization as a key driver to support its growth. Unfortunately, its IT team had a problem. Old data infrastructure was antiquated, fragmented, and inﬂexible, making centralization, performance, and external integrations a serious challenge.
