We’ve all been experiencing elevated levels of stress since COVID-19
hit the United States, followed by an economic crisis and the loss
of tens of millions of jobs. Experiencing elevated stress for a short
period of time can be manageable or even helpful if one is fleeing
from danger, for instance, or even pushing hard to meet a deadline
at work. However, the prolonged nature of the pandemic and all that
has followed has created a perpetual state of stress, which directly
impacts our mental health.
