  • The internet was cleverly created and designed to facilitate point-to-point communications including protocols to initiate a session, accept packets sequentially, and then terminate the session. 
  • Databases and datacenters (which actually preceded the internet) were created to house digital files and initiate applications. These stored files represent records, schematics, images, videos, and other forms of intellectual property. Applications allow end users to do things—such as buy goods online, access video and audio, compute on the cloud, use productivity tools, and conduct any other number of activities.
